East Godavari District Launches Leprosy Detection and Pneumonia Awareness Drive
Imagine your town is having a special health week!
The grown-ups in charge are starting two important drives.
One is to teach everyone about pneumonia, a lung sickness, and to check on little kids to make sure they don't have it.
They will even go door-to-door to see them!
The other drive is all about leprosy, a skin sickness.
They are reminding people that leprosy can be cured with medicine.
If anyone sees strange skin patches that don't feel things, or bumps, they should tell a doctor right away.
These drives are to help everyone stay healthy and get better if they get sick.
East Godavari district is launching a public health awareness drive for pneumonia and a leprosy detection campaign.
The Leprosy Case Detection Campaign (LCDC) will run for two weeks, from November 17 to November 30.
A door-to-door survey will be conducted for 1,27,074 children in the 0-5 age group to detect pneumonia symptoms.
District collector Kirti Chekuri emphasized that both pneumonia and leprosy are preventable and curable.
The public is urged to report symptoms of leprosy, such as skin patches lacking sensation or nerve issues, to the nearest health center.
