RBI Approves Record Dividend, FDI Moderates in FY25
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India's central bank, has decided to give the government a huge amount of money, about ₹2.69 lakh crore, which is a record high for the financial year 2024-25.
This is because the RBI made good profits.
At the same time, the amount of money coming into India from foreign investments, called net FDI, decreased significantly.
This happened because more money was going out of the country as investments by Indian companies.
However, the total amount of foreign investments coming into India actually increased.
While the stock market showed some ups and downs, the overall economy remained stable, with the RBI keeping a close watch on the financial situation and the markets.
RBI approved a record ₹2.69 lakh crore dividend payout to the government for FY25.
Net foreign direct investment (FDI) in India moderated to $0.4 billion in FY25.
Gross inward FDI rose by 13.7% during FY25, totaling $81 billion.
Outward FDI (OFDI) surged over 75% to $29.2 billion in FY25.
The RBI board reviewed the Economic Capital Framework (ECF), which sets norms for profit transfers.
