Assam Plans Heritage Site and Film on Historic Police Station
The Assam government is turning the Sootea Police Station into a tourist spot and making a film about it.
This police station is special because it was the first government building in India to raise the Indian flag before the country became independent.
This happened on August 20, 1942, during a big protest called the Quit India Movement.
The government is also building a new complex in the town and opened some hostels.
This is to remember the brave people who fought for India's freedom and to teach others about their courage.
