Bihar's Buxar District Implements e-Malkhana System
In Bihar's Buxar district, a new system called e-Malkhana is being used to manage evidence in police stations.
Before, evidence like guns, drugs, and cars were stored in messy rooms, making it hard to find things and sometimes leading to lost evidence.
Now, with e-Malkhana, all evidence is photographed, given a barcode, and entered into a computer system.
This makes it easier to track where each item is and ensures that evidence is not lost or tampered with.
The system was created by the police themselves in just two months and is already being used in six police stations, with plans to expand.
This helps the police and courts work more efficiently and ensures that justice is served properly.
Buxar Police introduced 'e-Malkhana' to digitize evidence management in July 2023.
The system involves photographing, barcoding, and entering evidence into a software for easy tracking.
Developed by a small team within the Buxar Police in two months without external vendors.
Initially rolled out in six of Buxar’s 24 police stations, with plans to expand.
Aims to prevent loss of evidence, expedite court proceedings, and improve police efficiency.
