Cuban President Accuses US of 'Political Genocide'

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel gave a speech on the 73rd anniversary of the first offensive by Fidel Castro's guerrillas.

He accused the US of political genocide due to economic sanctions and an oil embargo, which have caused severe economic hardship in Cuba.

The US, however, blames Cuba for economic mismanagement.

Diaz-Canel also denied accusations of infiltrating the US government and backing leftwing terrorism, stating they are being used as a scapegoat.

He pleaded for an end to the sanctions and thanked international groups for sending humanitarian aid.
