MP Urges Centre to Add Wheat to Odisha's PMGKAY
MP Dilip Ray has asked the central government to provide wheat along with rice to Odisha under the PMGKAY and AAY schemes.
He believes this will give people more choices, as some may need to eat less rice for health reasons.
The government currently gives 5 kg of rice or wheat for free every month to over 3.21 crore people in Odisha.
The Minister said the government has spent a lot of money on this scheme to help people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Other states like Uttar Pradesh have many beneficiaries too.
The government is thinking about whether to add wheat to Odisha's scheme.
Rajya Sabha MP Dilip Ray urges the Centre to include wheat in Odisha's PMGKAY and AAY schemes.
Over 3.21 crore people in Odisha are covered under PMGKAY.
