BPCL Reports Significant Q1 Loss Amid Global Challenges
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) recently reported a big loss for the first three months of the year.
They lost Rs 3,962.13 crore, which is a lot less money than they made in the same time last year.
This happened because selling fuel and other oil products wasn't as profitable, and the cost of oil and shipping went up because of problems in the world.
The company tried to keep fuel prices the same for people, which also hurt their profits.
However, their exploration and production part did really well, making a lot more money than before.
BPCL reported a net loss of Rs 3,962.13 crore for Q1 FY27, compared to a profit of Rs 6,123.93 crore in the same period last year.
Revenue from operations increased to Rs 1,59,479.28 crore, up from Rs 1,29,577.89 crore in the previous year.
The downstream petroleum segment posted a net loss of Rs 5,919 crore, a decline from Rs 8,060 crore in Q1 FY26.
Exploration and production wing's profit surged 154% year-over-year to Rs 2,084 crore.
The company cited suppressed marketing margins and higher global crude oil prices as reasons for the loss.
