Election Commission Launches Jharkhand Voter Verification Drive
The Election Commission is checking voter lists in Jharkhand.
Officials will visit homes to make sure eligible people are listed.
They will also check that family members living together are assigned to the same polling station.
Families may receive a sticker reminding them to check the list.
People missing from the draft list can apply to be added using Form-6.
People assigned to the wrong polling station can request a transfer using Form-8.
The draft list has fewer voters than before because more than 43.61 lakh names were deleted.
People can raise claims or objections until September 15, and the final list is expected on October 19.
The Election Commission launched a door-to-door voter and family-member verification campaign in Jharkhand on August 25.
The campaign aims to ensure eligible citizens are included and family members are registered at the same polling station.
Booth-level officers will assist voters with Form-6 applications and Form-8 transfers where necessary.
The draft electoral rolls contain 2.21 crore voters, down from 2.64 crore before the Special Intensive Revision.
Claims and objections are now accepted until September 15, with final revised rolls due October 19.
