West Bengal Building Massive Year-Round Durga Puja Landmark
West Bengal is building a huge new place for Durga Puja, which is a big festival.
This place will be open all year and not just during the festival.
It will have lots of statues of gods and goddesses, including 108 idols and 64 lion statues.
There will be a big central area where 1,000 people can sit for prayers and events.
The building will be very tall, about 54 meters high, and will have over 1,000 pillars.
It will also have a museum about the history of Durga Puja.
The government is paying for it, and it should be finished by late 2027.
West Bengal is constructing a 17.28-acre complex for Durga Puja, the world's largest Durgaanagan, to honor UNESCO's recognition of the festival as an intangible cultural heritage.
The complex will feature 108 idols of various deities, 64 lion statues, and 1,008 pillars, with a 54-meter tall main sanctum sanctorum.
The site will include a cultural museum, separate pavilions for Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartik, Ganesh, and Lord Shiva, and a central courtyard seating 1,000 devotees.
The Rs 261.99 crore project is funded by the state government and is expected to be completed by late 2027.
The complex is designed as a Gold-certified green building, with 300 trees and 20% air-conditioned area, accommodating 1 lakh visitors per day.
