Telangana's Land Policy Faces Legal Challenge
The Telangana government has a new plan called HILTP to change old industrial areas in Hyderabad into new urban spaces.
This plan wants to make money by charging a big fee to people who want to change how they use their land.
A retired professor named K Purushotham Reddy thinks this plan is bad for the environment and will make it hard for the city to handle more people and buildings.
He went to the court to stop the plan.
The court is now looking into it, and the government has to explain why they think the plan is good.
The BJP also criticized the government's decision to merge 27 urban local bodies with the GHMC, calling it ill-timed and ill-planned.
They say the government is not managing the finances well and is acting more like real estate agents than responsible leaders.
If the court agrees with the professor, the plan might have to change or even be canceled.
Telangana's HILTP policy faces legal challenge in High Court by social activist K Purushotham Reddy.
Court issued notices to state government and union ministries, seeking counter-affidavits.
Policy aims to repurpose underutilized industrial areas into urban centers, levying a significant DIF.
Opposition leader KT Rama Rao alleged a Rs 4.5 lakh crore land scam related to the policy.
