Mohanlal Film 'Madrasile Mon' Inspired by Infamous Kerala Double Murder Case
A movie was made about a real-life murder case in Kerala where a couple was killed for money.
The movie, called 'Madrasile Mon', was very popular and helped actor Mohanlal become famous.
The killers were a young man named Reni George and his friends from different countries.
They were studying in Chennai and addicted to drugs.
The police figured out they were the killers because of shoe prints left at the scene.
They all got life in prison.
One of the actors in the movie, Raveendran, was actually friends with the killer before the murder happened.
After being released from prison, Reni George became a religious preacher and started a charity.
The Malayalam film 'Madrasile Mon' was inspired by the sensational Karikkan Villa double murder case of 1980.
The real-life crime involved the brutal stabbing of a wealthy, childless couple, KC George and Rachel, at their home in Tiruvalla.
Stolen items included jewellery, a Rolex watch, a tape recorder, and cash, pointing to theft as the motive.
A key clue was the maid's recollection of Rachel mentioning 'Madrasile Mon', leading police to identify Reni George, a relative studying in Madras, as the prime accused.
Reni George committed the murders with three friends from Mauritius, Malaysia, and Kenya, all aeronautical engineering students addicted to drugs, and they were all sentenced to life imprisonment.
