Shell Begins Production at North Sea Victory Gas Field
Shell has started taking gas from a new field called Victory in the North Sea.
This gas will help heat almost 900,000 homes.
Gas is pulled up from one well under the sea and sent through pipes to a plant.
Then, it's sent to the Scottish mainland and into the gas network for use.
Shell hopes to get most of the gas out by the end of the decade.
The gas from Victory will help the UK get gas, but overall gas production in the UK is expected to decrease this year.
Shell has begun production at its Victory gas field in the North Sea.
The field can produce enough gas to heat nearly 900,000 homes annually.
Victory is located approximately 47 km northwest of the Shetland Islands.
Gas is transported via existing pipelines to the Shetland Gas Plant.
The gas will be delivered to the Scottish mainland and the national gas network.
