Gujarat Couple Digitally Arrested for Five Days in Fraud

Gujarat Couple Digitally Arrested for Five Days in Fraud

Police say a man and his wife in Gujarat were tricked by people pretending to be government and police officials.

The callers claimed that a phone SIM and a bank account had been opened in the man’s name.

They also falsely linked him to a money-laundering case involving Naresh Goyal.

The callers showed fake identity cards and official-looking letters.

They threatened to arrest the couple unless they cooperated.

The couple was kept on video and phone calls for five days, which police described as a digital arrest.

The fraudsters then told them to transfer their money for account verification.

The couple sent Rs 13 lakh to different bank accounts.

Police arrested Afaq Alam Ansari in Delhi, alleging that he supplied one account to the network.
