NGT Closes Case on Satpula Lake Sewage
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has closed a case about dirty water being put into Satpula Lake in Delhi.
The NGT started this case after reading a news report that said the lake was getting raw sewage from a big drain.
They found out that the lake was very polluted and the machine that cleans the water (called an STP) was not working.
The NGT told the people in charge (DDA) to fix the machine.
Later, they checked again and found that the water is now clean and the machine is working.
The NGT said the DDA must keep the water clean and check it every month.
They also said the DDA must send reports about the water quality to the NGT every 8 months to make sure everything stays clean.
NGT closed a suo motu case on sewage discharge into Satpula Lake after water quality improved.
Initial reports indicated raw sewage was being pumped into the lake from a large drain.
The lake was identified for rejuvenation by the Delhi government in 2021.
The STP was found to be non-functional during an earlier inspection in July 2024.
Latest inspection in November 2025 showed the STP is operational and water quality meets norms.
