Indian PSBs Face Staffing Shortages with Many Vacancies
Public sector banks in India have many open jobs.
There are about 33,000 positions that need to be filled.
These banks also hire over 100,000 people who work for them on contracts.
The government is working on filling these jobs.
Banks have hired lots of people in the past few years, but the total number of employees has still gone down recently.
This has happened even though the banks are doing more business.
PSBs have approximately 33,000 vacant positions as of June.
12 state-owned banks utilize over 100,000 contractual workers.
Officer positions account for the largest portion of vacancies.
PSBs recruited 149,000 staff in the last five years.
Employee numbers have declined despite a rise in business.
