Centre Reconstitutes CBFC With 18-Member Film Panel
The government has chosen a new team for India’s film-certification board.
The team has 18 members from films, television, music, writing and other fields.
Famous names include Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, Suniel Shetty and Ricky Kej.
Shashi Shekhar Vempati will lead the board.
The members will serve for three years unless the government makes another change sooner.
Only Waman Kendre and Ramesh Patange were kept from the old board.
The earlier board had continued after its term ended because a new one had not been appointed.
Officials said a new board was needed because some previous members were no longer active.
The Centre has reconstituted the 18-member Central Board of Film Certification with immediate effect.
Actors Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, Suniel Shetty, Pallavi Joshi and Prosenjit Chatterjee are among the appointees.
The board is headed by CBFC chairperson Shashi Shekhar Vempati and will serve for three years or until further orders.
Waman Kendre and Ramesh Patange are the only members retained from the previous board.
