Allahabad HC Orders UP Police to File Complaints Against False FIRs
The Allahabad High Court has ordered the Uttar Pradesh Police to take action against people who file false police reports (FIRs).
The court said that when the police find no evidence against someone accused in a case, they must also file a complaint against the person who made the false report and the witnesses.
This is to stop people from making false accusations.
The court gave the police 60 days to follow this rule.
In one case, a woman named Umme Farva had a false report filed against her by her ex-husband.
The court said the lower court was wrong to issue a summons to Farva and canceled it.
The court also warned that if the police do not follow these rules, they could face punishment.
