Ahmedabad RTO Cracks Down on Reckless Driving with License Suspensions
Imagine a city where some drivers were driving dangerously, like going too fast or on the wrong side of the road.
The people in charge of making sure roads are safe, the RTO, decided to take action.
They took away the licenses of over 2,000 bad drivers and charged them big fines, over 10 crore rupees!
They also went after unsafe school buses and rickshaws.
The goal is to make the roads safer by punishing reckless driving and preventing accidents.
Ahmedabad RTO suspended over 2,161 licenses and collected over Rs 10 crore in fines in 16 months.
Actions were taken due to increased reckless driving, including overspeeding and wrong-side driving.
284 licenses were canceled for dangerous driving incidents in other states by drivers holding Ahmedabad licenses.
The RTO targeted school transport, registering 280 cases and seizing 27 vehicles for safety violations.
Incidents involving shuttle rickshaws are also on the rise, with reports of robbery and abandonment.
