The Supreme Court is considering a request to improve how child kidnapping and trafficking cases are handled across India.

The request asks for the same investigation rules everywhere.

It also asks police to investigate quickly and courts to hold speedy trials.

Lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay said children are trafficked for many kinds of exploitation.

These include forced work, begging, child marriage and other crimes.

He also said some children are abducted for forced conversion.

The judges noted that government programs already exist to deal with these problems.

The Court has now asked the Centre and other authorities to respond.
