Bangladesh Government Removes Mujib's Image, Title on Currency
Bangladesh's government is making some big changes.
They're putting new pictures on their money, like a Hindu temple that was attacked, instead of the old leader's picture.
They also changed an important law to say the old leader isn't the 'Father of the Nation' anymore.
This is happening because the people in charge now want to show that Bangladesh has lots of different cultures and history, not just one.
Some people who used to get special help because of the old leader won't get it anymore, but others who helped the country in the past will still be recognized.
The interim government of Bangladesh removed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's image from new currency notes.
The 20-taka note now features the Kantajew Temple, an 18th-century Hindu temple, which was attacked in 2015.
The new currency also features the Paharpur Buddhist Monastery.
The interim government removed Sheikh Mujib’s title of ‘Father of the Nation’ from the Liberation War Act.
