Tea Prices Rise in Kochi Auctions
Tea prices in Kochi have gone up because there isn't much tea available, and many buyers want to purchase it.
This is especially true for dust teas, which sold very well.
However, the prices for orthodox leaf teas went down because of quality issues and less demand from buyers in the Middle East.
The weather has also affected tea production, making it harder to grow tea.
Overall, the market is doing well for some types of tea, but not so well for others.
Tea prices in Kochi auctions increased due to low availability and strong demand from blenders.
Dust teas achieved a 97% clearance rate with aggressive bidding, while leaf teas saw an 85% clearance.
The average price realization for dust teas was up by ₹2 at ₹163 per kg.
Orthodox leaf prices dropped by ₹3 per kg to ₹174 due to quality issues and subdued export demand.
Tea arrivals to the auction platform were down due to adverse weather conditions affecting crop production.
