Parents Protest HPS Fee Hike in Hyderabad
Parents of students at the Hyderabad Public School (HPS) in Hyderabad are upset because the school has increased fees by 141% over four years.
This means the annual fee has gone up from ₹83,630 to ₹2,01,628.
They met with the IT minister to complain, saying the school didn't explain why the fees went up so much or show how the money is being spent.
The parents also said the school's facilities and classrooms haven't improved as much as the fees have.
They want the government to look into the school's management and set rules to limit future fee increases to 8-10% every three years.
The minister said the government is reviewing the complaints and will talk to school officials before making a decision.
Parents of HPS students protested a 141% fee increase over four years, from ₹83,630 to ₹2,01,628.
The IT minister instructed the school education commissioner to examine the issues and file a report.
Parents claim the school did not provide expenditure details or audited accounts to justify the fee hikes.
Concerns were raised about the functioning of the Parent-Teacher Association, with allegations of misrepresentation.
