AKRSU Demands Koch-Rajbongshi Candidates in BTR Elections
The All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) is asking political parties to support their community in the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) elections.
They want candidates from their community to run for office.
AKRSU believes the Koch-Rajbongshi community has been ignored by past governments and is now asking for their demands, including Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, to be addressed.
The student body is also unhappy with the BJP's actions and says they will take action if their concerns are not heard, they are asking all parties to clearly state their plans for the community before the elections.
AKRSU urged NDA parties to field Koch-Rajbongshi candidates in all five BTR general constituencies.
The demand was made at a press conference in Chirang.
AKRSU criticized the BJP-led government for allegedly politicizing the ST status demand.
AKRSU threatened resistance if the community's demands continue to be ignored.
