Kashmir Officials Review Water Transport, Lake Conservation Efforts
Imagine a river in Kashmir that's getting a makeover!
Officials are planning to start boat transport on the Jhelum River and clean up Dal and Nigeen Lakes.
They are building docks, and doing dredging on the river.
They are also working to stop pollution from getting into the lakes and removing weeds.
A big plan is in the works to make the lakes even better, with more money for the project.
It is hoped that all this will make the area more beautiful and help both the environment and the people.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo reviewed the Inland Water Transport project on the Jhelum River.
An MoU was signed between IWAI and the J&K government for water transport development.
Work has been awarded for seven floating concrete jetties on the Jhelum River, to be completed by December 2025.
