MLCs Urge Council Chairman to Decide on Resignations
Six members of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council met with the Chairman on Monday.
They wanted him to make a decision about their resignations, which had been waiting for a long time.
One of them, Jayamangala Venkataramana, even went to court because the Chairman was taking too long.
The court said the Chairman must decide within four weeks.
All these members were originally part of the YSRCP but have since left to join other parties.
The Chairman had not accepted or rejected their resignations, which made the court call his inaction illegal and arbitrary.
The members hope the Chairman will now make a quick decision.
Six MLCs, including Zakiya Khanam and Jayamangala Venkataramana, met with the Council Chairman to urge a decision on their pending resignations.
The High Court directed the Chairman to decide on the resignations within four weeks, terming the delay as illegal and arbitrary.
Venkataramana approached the court over the delay and handed over a copy of the court order to the Chairman.
All six MLCs were originally elected on the YSRCP ticket but have since resigned and joined other parties.
The Chairman had neither accepted nor rejected their resignations, which prompted the court intervention.
