EU Parliament Approves Russian Gas Phase-Out
The European Parliament has decided to stop buying gas from Russia by the end of 2027.
This is because Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, and the EU wants to reduce its dependence on Russian energy.
The Parliament voted on this plan, and it's almost officially a law now.
The EU had already agreed on this plan earlier in the month.
This is a big step because Russia used to be the biggest supplier of gas to Europe.
European Parliament approved phasing out Russian gas imports by 2027.
Decision made in response to Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Vote cleared the penultimate legal hurdle for the ban.
EU had previously agreed on the legislation earlier in the month.
Russia was Europe's former top gas supplier.
