Ted Kaczynski: How the FBI Caught the Unabomber

Ted Kaczynski was a very talented mathematician who later became known as the Unabomber.

He opposed modern technology and industrial society.

From 1978 to 1995, he sent or placed homemade bombs in several locations.

His attacks killed three people and hurt 23 others.

The FBI investigated the attacks for almost 18 years without knowing who was responsible.

In 1995, Kaczynski sent newspapers a long essay explaining his beliefs.

His sister-in-law recognized similarities between the essay and writing she had seen before.

Kaczynski’s brother then contacted the FBI.

Agents arrested Kaczynski in 1996 and found evidence linking him to the bombings.
