Madhya Pradesh Fails to Distribute Textbooks to Millions of Students
In Madhya Pradesh, India, many students in government schools are still waiting for their textbooks.
Even though the government has bought and sent almost all the books needed, many students have not received them.
Over 8 lakh students have not received any textbooks, and more than 26 lakh have only some of their books.
This means more than 34 lakh students, which is over 60% of the students, do not have all the books they need.
Some districts, like Rewa and Mauganj, have done very poorly in giving out the books.
The problem is not with buying or sending the books but with getting them to the students.
Over 8.15 lakh students in Madhya Pradesh have not received any textbooks.
More than 26.18 lakh students have only partial textbooks.
44 out of 53 districts have failed to distribute complete textbooks to half of their students.
Rewa, Mauganj, and Maihar are among the worst-performing districts.
99% of textbooks have been procured and reached Block Resource Coordination Centres (BRCCs).
