PIB Approves ₹26,069 Crore Kamala Hydro Project
The Public Investment Board (PIB) has approved a huge hydroelectric project in Arunachal Pradesh called the Kamala Hydroelectric Project.
This project will cost ₹26,069.50 crore and will generate a lot of clean energy every year.
It will take 8 years to build and will help prevent floods in the Brahmaputra valley.
The project is a joint effort between NHPC and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
It will create jobs and bring money to the local area.
The government is also giving some money to help build the necessary infrastructure.
The PIB approved ₹26,069.50 crore for the 1720 MW Kamala Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh.
The project will generate 6,869.92 MU of green energy annually and contribute to India's Net Zero target by 2070.
It will be implemented on a BOOT basis with 74% equity by NHPC and 26% by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The project includes a 216-meter high dam and an underground powerhouse, with a completion period of 8 years.
