Frans Hals Paintings Return to Netherlands After Auction
Imagine two very old paintings, like pictures from a long time ago, of a boy playing a violin and a girl singing.
These were painted by a famous artist named Frans Hals, who might have painted his own kids!
These paintings were in another country, but now they are back in the Netherlands.
Two museums bought them for a lot of money.
The museums will share the paintings, showing them at different times.
It's like the museums are best friends, sharing a special toy.
The government and some groups helped buy the paintings because they are very important to the country's history.
Paintings by Frans Hals, possibly depicting his children, return to the Netherlands.
The paintings, "Boy Playing the Violin" and "Girl Singing," were purchased for $7.8 million.
The Frans Hals Museum and Mauritshuis museum jointly acquired the artwork with government and foundation support.
The paintings will be displayed at the Frans Hals Museum and the Mauritshuis on a rotating basis.
This is not the first joint ownership of artwork between Dutch museums; similar arrangements exist.
