Indian states target 1.18 million jobs, 1,380 new GCCs

Big companies from other countries set up special offices in India called Global Capability Centres, or GCCs.

In these offices, people do important work with computers, money and manufacturing.

A report from CBRE says Indian states want to create almost 1.18 million jobs by 2031.

They also plan to open about 1,380 new GCCs.

Many states, like Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat, have made special rules to attract these offices.

Other states such as Telangana, Delhi and Tamil Nadu have offered incentives too.

GCCs now use more and more office space in India's nine biggest cities.

Their share of office space grew from about 29% in 2022 to 43% in the first half of 2026.

Technology, banking and engineering companies rent most of this new space.

CBRE leaders say states are competing by approving projects faster and building better infrastructure.
