Maharashtra to Finalise Labour Code Rules by August
Maharashtra is making new rules for its labour laws.
They will be announced by the end of August.
The rules were written after people gave feedback, and they want to make it easier for businesses and workers to follow the rules.
A new website will let businesses sign up online.
The rules will help make sure workers get fair pay and safe jobs, and they will also help businesses run smoother.
Maharashtra will issue rules for new labour codes by end of August after reviewing 819 public submissions.
Draft rules for four labour codes were released in April 2026 and received high stakeholder engagement, especially for the Wage Code.
The rules aim to clarify worker definitions, minimum wages, and streamline employer‑worker relations.
A new online portal will be launched for registration of all establishments, shops and business units.
Officials say the reforms will improve transparency, ease of doing business and protect workers’ rights.
