Ex-Army Jawan Killed as Drunk SUV Rams Bikes in Hyderabad
A retired soldier was riding his scooter in a city called Hyderabad when a big, fast SUV hit him.
The SUV was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the road, and it hit three scooters or bikes.
The soldier was hurt very badly and sadly died.
The same SUV also hit other people, and two or three of them got hurt.
Some young men were inside the SUV, and after the crash they ran away, leaving the vehicle behind.
The police think the driver may have been drinking alcohol, but they are not sure yet.
Police are now searching for the young men who ran away so they can ask them questions.
The soldier's body was taken to a hospital so doctors could examine it.
There were also other road accidents in nearby towns, and more people got hurt or sadly died.
A 47-year-old ex-Army serviceman, Ravinder, was killed on the spot when a speeding Mahindra XUV SUV, allegedly on the wrong side, rammed three two-wheelers in Hydershkote on August 10.
The hit-and-run occurred around 5.30 am near SMP School under Narsingi Police Station limits; the SUV's occupants abandoned the damaged vehicle and fled the scene.
Eyewitnesses said five youths were in the SUV, while preliminary police investigations indicated four occupants, with the driver allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Reports differ on injuries in the main crash — three injured per one report and two per another, with one in critical condition; the body was sent to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem.
Separate accidents in Kondapur, Jagtial, Mahabubabad, Hanamkonda and Khammam left additional people dead and injured.
