13 peacocks missing from Kolkata picnic spot
A garden near Kolkata used for picnics had 13 peacocks and other animals go missing.
The police are investigating and have detained three people.
Some people think the animals were sold illegally, while the detained people say one peacock died and was buried.
The garden is now empty of peacocks, and the police are checking why the forest department wasn't told about the peacock's death.
13 peacocks and other animals went missing from a picnic spot in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
The garden, Aranyak Banabhojan Udyan, is located on the banks of the Adi Ganga, about 31 km from Kolkata.
A local BJP leader filed a complaint after finding the enclosures empty.
Police detained three individuals for questioning, with one claiming a peacock died and was buried.
The police are investigating why the forest department was not informed and why procedures under the Wildlife Protection Act were not followed.
