Reddy Urges AP to Resolve Polavaram Land Issues
Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, a former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, spoke at a BJP office in Rajamahendravaram.
He said the Polavaram dam will only help farmers if land in nearby Odisha and Chhattisgarh is cleared.
He reminded that 80 cubic meters of water will move from the Godavari to the Krishna river, with some going to Karnataka and Maharashtra.
He urged the state government to finish the dam quickly and fix the land problems.
He also said that because the BJP controls the neighboring states, they can help solve the issue.
Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy urged the state to protect farmers' interests regarding Polavaram water.
He said the Polavaram dam’s full benefits depend on completing land acquisition in eight Odisha villages and four Chhattisgarh villages.
The Bachawat Tribunal award earmarks 80 TMC of Godavari water for the Krishna basin, with 20 TMC for Karnataka and 14 TMC for Maharashtra.
Reddy called for early completion of the Polavaram Project and resolution of pending land issues.
He noted that BJP control in Odisha and Chhattisgarh could help expedite land acquisition discussions.
