Maharashtra FDA Faces Double Shift Staff Shortage
A group of 29 workers at a food safety lab in Maharashtra wrote a letter saying they have to work two shifts every day and even on Saturdays.
They say this is because there aren’t enough helpers.
Because of the heavy workload, they can’t test all the food and drug samples quickly, and the quality of the tests might suffer.
The workers also say the long hours hurt their health and family life.
They want the government to hire more analysts so the lab can finish its work safely and on time.
29 FDA employees complain of double shifts due to staff shortage.
Laboratory in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar now runs 7‑3 PM and 12‑8 PM shifts plus Saturdays.
Analysts can process only 12‑14 drug samples/month, far below the 40‑50 food samples recommended.
Employees claim testing quality is compromised and backlog is growing.
The complaint urges hiring more analysts and addresses health and family impacts.
