India's GDP Growth Estimated at 7.4% for 2025-26
India's economy is expected to grow by 7.4% in the year 2025-26, which is higher than the 6.5% growth seen in the previous year.
This growth is mainly because the services sector is doing well, with a growth rate of 7.3%.
Manufacturing and construction are also growing at 7%, but agriculture is growing at a slower rate of 3.1%.
The government uses these estimates to plan the budget and decide how much money to spend and borrow.
The estimates were released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and the National Statistics Office.
The growth is notable because it happened even though the US put high tariffs on some Indian goods, including a penalty for buying Russian oil.
The government expects this growth to continue into the next year, with a growth rate of 6.5-7%.
India's GDP growth for 2025-26 is estimated at 7.4%, up from 6.5% in 2024-25.
The services sector is the major driver of growth, with a 7.3% increase in real Gross Value Added (GVA).
Manufacturing and construction are estimated to grow at 7%, while agriculture is expected to grow at 3.1%.
Nominal GDP is estimated to grow at 8% during the fiscal year 2025-26.
The growth is notable as it occurred despite US tariffs on Indian goods, including a 25% penalty for purchasing Russian oil.
