FPI Holdings Surge to 14-Month High; Amundi Predicts FII Rebound in Indian Equities
Imagine you have some money to invest.
In the first half of November, foreign investors put more money into Indian stocks and other investments than they have in a long time.
This is good news because it shows people believe in India's economy.
However, earlier this year, foreign investors were selling Indian stocks a lot, which made India's stock market grow more slowly than other countries.
But now, a big investment company called Amundi thinks foreign investors will start buying Indian stocks again because the economy is doing better and the prices of stocks are not too high anymore.
So, they suggest putting more money into Indian stocks.
FPIs increased holdings in Indian securities to Rs 81.53 trillion in the first half of November, the highest in 14 months.
FPIs invested Rs 74.28 trillion in equities, with the rest in debt and hybrid instruments.
Amundi expects foreign investors to return to Indian equities due to improving conditions.
India's benchmark index Nifty 50 has risen 10.8% in 2025 but lagged broader emerging-market benchmarks.
Amundi recommends increasing allocation to overweight Indian equities.
