Amit Mitra blames Centre for GST issues
Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, recently said that agreeing to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was a big mistake.
Amit Mitra, who was the state's Finance Minister at the time, agrees that the GST has caused problems.
He says that the central government did not properly prepare for the GST and that this has hurt small businesses.
He also says that the GST Network, which was supposed to handle a lot of invoices every month, did not work well.
Amit Mitra believes that if the GST had been implemented better, it would have helped small businesses more.
Mamata Banerjee called the implementation of GST a 'very big blunder'.
Amit Mitra agrees with her and blames the Centre for the 'current mess' in GST.
He says the GST Network was not ready when the tax was launched in July 2017.
Mitra believes a better implementation of GST could have saved MSMEs.
He criticizes the central government for being 'publicity-hungry' and causing administrative failures.
