CAPF Veterans Announce Hunger Strike Over IPS Deputation, Pensions

CAPF Veterans Announce Hunger Strike Over IPS Deputation, Pensions

Former paramilitary personnel plan to stop eating for a protest beginning November 7.

They will gather at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

They oppose a new law governing senior jobs in five Central Armed Police Forces.

The law allows many senior posts to be filled by Indian Police Service officers on deputation.

The protesters want the law withdrawn.

They also want the old pension system brought back.

The association says experience inside the forces should matter more than deputation.

It also says the government has not answered its letters about these demands.

The government’s response was not included in the article.
