APCC to launch statewide yatra for MGNREGA
The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is starting a big journey across the state on February 2.
This journey, called the Employment Guarantee Protection Yatra, will begin in Bandlapalli, Anantapur district.
The goal is to protect and improve a law called MGNREGA, which guarantees jobs for rural workers.
The APCC also opposes a new law introduced by the Prime Minister, which they say is harming job guarantees.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other Congress leaders paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyr’s Day and observed a two-hour fast to protest against the renaming and dilution of MGNREGA.
They believe the BJP-led Union government has undermined the scheme's spirit and reduced employment opportunities, especially for youth and women in rural areas.
