Supreme Court Stays Judge's Reinstatement Over Train Misconduct
A judge from Madhya Pradesh was accused of doing very bad things on a train.
He was said to have drunk alcohol, misbehaved, and even urinated in the train compartment where a woman was sitting.
The train's staff and other passengers complained, and he was arrested.
In court, the judge was found not guilty because the people who saw what happened did not support the case.
But the judge's employers found him guilty and fired him.
Later, a higher court said he should not have been fired and that he should get his job back.
Now, the highest court in the country is looking at this decision and has asked the state to explain why the judge should not be punished.
A civil judge from Madhya Pradesh was accused of urinating in a train compartment and misbehaving with passengers and staff.
The judge was acquitted in a criminal case due to hostile witnesses but was found guilty in a departmental inquiry and terminated.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court set aside the termination in May 2025, recommending a minor penalty instead.
The Supreme Court has stayed the High Court's order, calling the judge's conduct 'disgusting' and 'grossest grave misconduct'.
The Supreme Court sought the state's response to the High Court's decision to interfere with the disciplinary action.
