Khudiram Bose Heritage Sites Remain Neglected in Muzaffarpur

Khudiram Bose was a young Indian freedom fighter who was executed by the British in 1908.

His trial took place in Muzaffarpur.

A wooden witness box connected to that trial still exists, but it is broken and kept in a government storage room.

Rainwater is reportedly damaging it further.

Local activists want it preserved in a museum.

They also want the place where Bose was cremated turned into a park honoring martyrs.

Another place connected to him, Company Bagh, is now a meat market.

A memorial inside the jail where he was hanged is opened to the public only once a year.

Supporters say these places should be protected so future generations can remember Bose’s sacrifice.
