MP Subba Seeks Expedited Highway to North Sikkim
The Member of Parliament from Sikkim, Indra Hang Subba, wants the government to build a new road to North Sikkim.
The current road is often blocked by bad weather and landslides, making it hard for people to get supplies and affecting the military.
The new road would stay open all year, help the area grow, and be important for defense.
The Border Roads Organisation is ready to start, but needs support from the Ministry of Defence to get the project approved and built quickly.
MP Indra Hang Subba urged the Centre to expedite the construction of an alternative highway to North Sikkim.
The current road to North Sikkim is vulnerable to landslides and weather disruptions.
Subba met with MoS for Defence Sanjay Seth to discuss the highway.
An alternative highway would ensure year-round access and boost regional development.
BRO has shown readiness to advance the proposal; MoD support is crucial.
