Amaravati on fast lane to become AI, quantum, green-energy capital

Amaravati on fast lane to become AI, quantum, green-energy capital

A big new city called Amaravati is being built in India, and the state's leader, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, opened a new road and two steel bridges on Thursday.

The road connects Amaravati with three nearby cities: Vijayawada, Mangalagiri, and Guntur.

Amaravati is planned to be a very clean 'smart' city with wires hidden underground, lots of trees and water, and clean energy.

It wants to become one of the top cities in the world for artificial intelligence and quantum computers.

The city's plan was designed with help from Singapore.

The government also approved a 190-kilometer outer ring road and a 96-kilometer inner ring road.

Farmers who gave their land so the city could be built were praised for their sacrifice.

Some people once made fun of the city's plans, but the Chief Minister says the plans are now becoming real.

The official opening of the capital city is planned for 2028, with the Prime Minister of India attending.
