Pawana Dam Full, Yet Pimpri-Chinchwad Water Cut Persists
Pimpri-Chinchwad is a city in India that has been giving its residents only 15% of the usual water supply.
This started on June 19 because the water department said there wasn’t enough rain.
In July, the big Pawana Dam filled up completely, so people hoped the water cut would end.
But the mayor says the cut is being cancelled, while another BJP leader says they are just starting the paperwork.
The water department says the cut can only be lifted if the dam stays full until October.
Until then, the city will keep giving water on alternate days, and swimming pools will reopen on August 1.
Pawana Dam is at 100% capacity after July rains.
Pimpri-Chinchwad’s 15% water cut has been in place since June 19.
BJP leaders give conflicting statements: the mayor says the cut is cancelled, while the city president says only the process has begun.
The Water Resources Department says the cut can be withdrawn only if the dam remains full until October.
Alternate‑day water supply will continue until the Bhama Askhed project supplies water.
