Rajasthan HC: Demolitions Require Fair Hearings
Imagine the city is making roads wider, and some houses need to move.
The court said that the city must be fair before removing any houses.
First, everyone gets a chance to talk about their house.
The city has to listen and make a decision.
Before the house can go, the people have to have at least 15 days to respond.
Also, for every tree that is removed for the road, the city has to plant ten new trees nearby.
Rajasthan High Court ruled that demolitions require fair hearings and reasoned orders.
The court addressed petitions from 80 property occupants regarding the Kotputli Municipal Council's road widening drive.
The court mandated a committee to review individual objections within 15 days.
The court stated that demolition or construction must wait 15 days after decisions.
The court ordered the planting of ten new trees for every tree removed for road development.
