Singapore to hold coroner inquiry into Zubeen Garg's death
A famous singer named Zubeen Garg from India died while swimming in Singapore.
The police and a special judge called a coroner are trying to find out what happened.
They will have a hearing in January to look into the details of his death.
The coroner will make a report about how, when, and where he died.
The police say they don't think anyone did anything wrong, but they want to be sure.
The hearing will be open to the public unless there's a good reason to keep it private.
It might take one day or several days to finish.
Meanwhile, in Assam, some lawyers are concerned about how the investigation was done and want to make sure justice is served.
A coroner’s inquiry into Zubeen Garg's death will begin on January 14, 2024, in Singapore.
Garg, a 52-year-old Indian singer, died on September 19 while swimming off St John’s Island, Singapore.
The police found no evidence of foul play and urged the public not to speculate.
The inquiry will be led by State Coroner Adam Nakhoda and held at the State Courts.
The coroner's findings will not assign criminal liability but will detail the circumstances of the death.
