Pune Tehsildar Suspended Over Controversial Land Deal Involving Pawar Son's Firm
A government office that studies plants, called the BSI, was using a large piece of land for many years.
A company, mostly owned by the son of an important politician, bought this land from the original owners.
This company told a local government official, called a tehsildar, that because they paid a fee, the BSI had to leave immediately according to an old agreement.
The tehsildar then sent letters telling the BSI to move out.
However, the top local leader, the Collector, said this was wrong and the tehsildar didn't check things properly.
Experts also agree that the tehsildar made a mistake and the BSI shouldn't be forced to leave based on what the company claimed.
The tehsildar who sent the letters was later suspended.
A suspended Pune tehsildar issued two eviction notices to the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) within a month regarding a 44-acre plot in Koregaon Park.
The land, a Mahar Watan plot leased to BSI until 2038, is under scrutiny for a Rs 300 crore deal involving Amadea Enterprises LLP, a firm with 99% ownership by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar's son, Parth Pawar.
Amadea Enterprises claimed that the deposit of 'occupancy price' by original farmers triggered a lease termination clause, based on point 13 of the lease deed.
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has deemed the deal illegal and stated the tehsildar's actions were incorrect and lacked proper verification, as the land remains in the government's name.
Property law experts support the Collector's view, stating that Clause 13 does not imply automatic lease termination and that any regrant requires fulfilling all conditions, which apparently were not met.
