Mass Animal Poisonings in Telangana Spark Outrage
In several villages in Telangana, India, many monkeys and stray dogs were found poisoned and killed.
This has made animal lovers and the police very worried.
A group that helps animals, called the Stray Animal Foundation of India, found out about this and asked the police to do something.
The police are now looking into who did this and have started legal actions against some village leaders.
Doctors who take care of animals are also helping the animals that are still alive but very sick.
The people who work with animals say that more and more animals are being poisoned, and they want the police to stop this from happening.
The police have found many dead animals and are waiting for more reports to understand what happened.
Over 900 animals, including monkeys and stray dogs, have been poisoned and killed in multiple villages across Telangana.
The incidents are suspected to be carried out by village Sarpanchs and Gram Panchayat secretaries to address the stray dog menace.
Police have registered FIRs against the accused under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Local veterinary officials and the Stray Animal Foundation of India are involved in treating the affected animals and investigating the incidents.
The killings are believed to be part of a pattern of animal poisoning in the region, with multiple incidents reported in January alone.
